Finally...We have a nursery

I had made it my goal that we would have an actual working nursery by the end of October, and I'm pretty sure we are there!

Last Saturday, my mom and dad came over for the whole day to help me and hubby out on the rest of the big things that needed completed. I can't thank them enough. They are truly a huge blessing and we never would have gotten done without them! Dad got to the house at about 8 am and him and hubby started hanging the new border paper. I had finished all the painting up the weekend before.

Once the border was up, we ran the sweeper and brought in the boxes for the furniture. The crib was the first to be assembled and it looks great. Then we assembled the changing table and unpacked the dresser. At that point, mom and I told my dad and hubby to go and watch TV and we hung the curtains, put together the bed linens, and did up the shelving. And here's the final product:

I couldn't be more in love with the room and more happy with the results.  There's just a few more things that need done before it will be completely finished but we're definitely ready for the baby!!

Well, considering that my last blog post was in May, one would think that I did tons and tons and tons of reading and just have been too busy to post. However, it's quite the opposite. I have only read one book since the last time I posted (Gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson...it was very good and I hope to review it eventually).

So what has been keeping me away from the blogging world one may ask? Well, on May 25th, Hubby and I found out we were expecting our first child!!! As you all may know, this has been a two year struggle for us and we were shocked when the test came back positive. I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant and due on 2/3/2011 :)

It hasn't been the easiest pregnancy. During my first trimester, I developed a subcutaneous hemorrhage between my placenta and uterine wall. I hemorrhaged and bleed out at 6, 8, and 10 weeks. Each time we spent the night in the emergency room but the baby continued to grow and be perfectly fine. I was on bed rest for about six weeks and had trouble concentrating on much of anything. Finally at about 12 weeks the hemorrhage healed and all has been going smoothly since. The doctors are hoping the rest of the pregnancy remains uneventful as do I! I believe the power of prayer is a wonderful thing, and to this day, still believe it is the only thing that got us through that trying time.

My levels of concentration are slowly coming back, and I've been able to sit and read a few magazines lately. I no longer find myself drifting off thinking of fifty other things and I'm not nearly as exhausted as I was. Now if we could only snap our fingers and move all the furniture out of the future nursery things could really improve!

I hope to keep everyone updated in the coming weeks as to what is going on with me, and I hope to read a few books before the baby gets here. We find out what we're having October 1st, and then between my shower, the holidays and year end close at work I'll be a busy (tired :)) girl! Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to post some pictures as we get everything done!

I'm still alive...

Hello...I'm going to try this again. I know its been a long time since I've been around and I need to fill everyone in on what's been happening in my life. Soon after my last post, Michael and I found out we were pregnant...in early July I miscarried the baby and our lives got extremely hectic. Since the miscarriage, we've been to see a reproductive specialist who diagnosised me with polycystic ovarian syndrome. I'm still ovulating every month, but extremely late in the cycle, making it very difficult to even become pregnant. After a few months of testing, we started our first round of Clomid this month to help us produce healthy, happy eggs.

At the same time that all of this was happening, I also received a promotion at work. While I love it, it means a lot more time in front of the computer and a lot more meetings. I'm exhausted once I get home.

I've pretty much been coming home, picking up around the house, and going to bed. Not much reading time. However, I think I'm finally starting to get back on track and I've been reading again on my lunch hour and actually managed to finish a book already this week. Hopefully, I'll begin to be able to start posting at least once, if not twice a week. I know I'm obviously not going to make my reading goal of 100 books this year, but I am hoping to make at least fifty!

March in Review

March was a very long month for me. There was a lot of stuff going on at work. All that has been settled now. I signed an acceptance letter with the new company, and will be moving to a new building and a new supervisor on Monday. I'll be able to leave all the gossip and hostility at the old place. I found all this out yesterday, and I can already feel the stress leaving my body. I finally know what is going on with that part of my life!

Reading wise, I hit a mid month slump and only managed to read one book in a week and a half. I was a little panicky because this year has been so good for me reading wise. After spending a quiet evening in the "library" (my really overcrowded spare bedroom that houses all my books) I decided to change up my genres a little bit and moved to contemporary romance. I guess that is all it took because I was able to read four in one week.

I managed to read nine books this month and I'm already 1/4 of the way done with the 100 Book Reading Challenge. In fact, I'm actually one book ahead of where I had wanted to me at the end of March (yeah me!). Also, I read two more books in the Harry Potter series in March, getting myself closer to my goal of completing all seven books before the new movie is released in July.

April will be a busy month for me because of spring. Michael and I always take a few evenings and weekends and edge all the flower beds, weed, trim, and mulch. Also, we are looking to expand the back bed this year and plant a few more trees. I'll take pictures when its all done and show everyone all of our hard work. We have managed to get the garage and basement cleaned and organized and ready for spring already so that is one good thing.

Another thing I really want to concentrate on in April is Michael and I's plans for the future. We have been trying to get pregnant now for about a year; however, during almost this entire time I have been under extreme amounts of stress at work. I'm really working on relaxing and enjoying Michael and I's time together this month. I'm hoping maybe the change in job and the change in my attitude will cause a change for us. If not, I'll be making an appointment with the Dr. in the near future to see what our options are.

Sick, sick, and more sick

I think I'm dying. Seriously. I have never had such a horrible, nasty, disgusting cold/infection/bronchitis thing in my life. For the past four days I've done nothing but lay in bed and stare at the ceiling. And then yesterday, Aunt Flo showed up (a week late...) so of course I bawled about that for about an hour. It's really frustrating when you're trying to get pregnant and you're a week late and start to get excited and then BOOM.

Oh yeah...and the battery died in my car and I had to have it towed. And the tow truck drivers sister, who I graduated from high school with, is pregnant...with twins. Open up the flood gates...the rains coming.

That was my weekend. I've managed to finish one book in all this ickiness. Once I'm feeling a bit more up to par I'll get a review up...until then I'm off to bed with my new best friend...Puffs Plus with Lotion.
